OVER THE LAST TWO DECADES, NOVEL APPLICATIONS OF MICRO/NANO POLYMER PARTICLES IN DIFFERENT FIELDS HAVE ATTRACTED THE INTEREST OF THE RESEARCH COMMUNITY. IN THIS ARTICLE FIRST SYNTHESIS OF MONODISPERSE POLYSTYRENE (PS) PARTICLES (2.7MM IN DIAMETER) IS PRESENTED, AND THEN THEY ARE USED FOR SEEDED DISPERSION POLYMERIZATION OF 2-ETHYLHEXYL METHACRYLATE IN THE PRESENCE OF N-DECANE, WHICH IS LATER EXTRACTED TO GIVE HOLLOW PARTICLES WITH AN IRREGULAR MORPHOLOGY. POLYMERIZATION AT HIGHER TEMPERATURES RESULTED IN PENETRATION OF SOLVENT INTO THE PARTICLES, LOWER VISCOSITY, ADDITIONAL SOLVENT EXTRACTION CAVITIES CREATED IN PARTICLES, AND HENCE FORMATION OF A VARIETY OF MORPHOLOGIES.

AQUEOUS DISPERSION TERPOLYMERIZATION OF ACRYLONITRILE (AN), ACRYLAMIDE (AAM) AND ITACONIC ACID (IA) WAS CARRIED OUT IN WATER AT 40 °C USING AMMONIUM PERSULPHATE (APS) AND SODIUM BISULFITE (SBS) AS INITIATORS. MONOMERS COMPOSITION IN FEED WERE 97.5/2/0.5 AND 96.5/2.5/1 (AN/AAM/IA). THE POLYMERS WERE CHARACTERIZED BY USING FOURIER TRANSFORM INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY (FTIR), DIFFERENTIAL SCANNING CALORIMETRY (DSC). THE DILUTE SOLUTION VISCOSITIES OF THESE TERPOLYMERS WERE STUDIED AS A FUNCTION OF MOLECULAR WEIGHT. THE EFFECT OF TWO COMPOSITIONS OF PAN TERPOLYMERS ON THE THERMAL BEHAVIOR AND EFFECT OF VARIATION OF THE CONCENTRATIONS OF REDOX INITIATOR ON THE VISCOSITY AVERAGE MOLECULAR WEIGHTS OF TEROPOLYMERS WERE STUDIED. THE INCORPORATION OF 2.5MOL% AAM AND 1MOL% IA INTO TERPOLYMER SHOWED THE BETTER THERMAL BEHAVIOR FOR CARBON FIBER PRODUCING.

THIS PAPER CONSIDERS THE EFFECT OF TWO PARAMETERS CONTAINS STABILIZER AND INITIATOR CONTENTS ON MORPHOLOGY AND AVERAGE NANOPARTICLES DIAMETER PREPARED BY SEEDED POLYMERIZATION METHOD. EACH PARAMETER WAS CHANGED TWICE AND ITS EFFECT HAVE OBSERVED. THE MORPHOLOGY OF PARTICLES WERE OBSERVED BY SEM MICROSCOPY AND SIZE OF PARTICLES DIAMETER MEASURED BY IMAGEJ SOFTWARE. RESULTS SHOWED THAT INCREASING PVP CONTENT, AVERAGE PARTICLES DIAMETER AND DISPERSION COEFFICIENT HAS DECREASED. ON THE OTHER HAND, IT SEEMS RAISING OF AIBN CONTENT LEADS TO AVERAGE PARTICLES DIAMETER AND DISPERSION COEFFICIENT INCREASING.

THIS PAPER CONSIDERS THE EFFECT OF POLYMERIZATION TEMPERATURE AND TIME ON NANOPARTICLES MORPHOLOGY CONTAINS AVERAGE NANOPARTICLES DIAMETER AND ITS DISPERSION COEFFICIENT PREPARED BY SEEDED POLYMERIZATION METHOD. TEMPERATURE PARAMETER WAS CHANGED IN 2 DIFFERENT VALUES AND TIME PARAMETER WAS CHANGED IN 4 VARIOUS VALUES AND THEIR EFFECTS HAVE INVESTIGATED. THE MORPHOLOGY OF PARTICLES WERE OBSERVED BY SEM MICROSCOPY AND SIZE OF PARTICLES DIAMETER MEASURED BY IMAGEJ SOFTWARE ACCORDING TO SCALE. RESULTS SHOWED THAT INCREASING PROCESS TEMPERATURE LEADS AVERAGE PARTICLES DIAMETER AND DISPERSION COEFFICIENT TO BE INCREASED. ALSO, IT SEEMS AVERAGE PARTICLES DIAMETER AND DISPERSION COEFFICIENT HAVE INCREASED OVER TIME.

IN THIS STUDY, THE POLY (METHYL METHACRYLATE)/POLYSTYRENE (PMMA/PS) CORE/SHELL POLYMER PARTICLES WERE SYNTHESIZED BY SEEDED DISPERSION POLYMERIZATION OF STYRENE ON A PMMA SEED (3.98 MM, RATIO OF 3.1 W/W) USING AZOBISISOBUTYRONITRILE(AIBN) AND POLYVINYLPYRROLIDONE(PVP) AS INITIATOR, AND STABILIZER RESPECTIVELY, IN WATER/METHANOL MEDIUM(RATIO 1/4 W/W) AT VARIOUS TEMPERATURES. IT WAS FOUND THAT AT HIGHER TEMPERATURES, THE SHELL WAS THICKER, AND THE SECONDARY NUCLEATION SUPPRESSED. THE PARTICLES SYNTHESIZED WERE COMPLETELY SPHERICAL.

NOVEL POLYMER PARTICLES WHICH HAVE BEEN SYNTHESIZED IN RECENT YEARS HAVE FOUND APPLICATIONS IN MANY FIELDS, INCLUDING BIOMEDICAL, DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS, SURFACTANTS, MICROELECTRONICS TO NAME A FEW. THEY ARE PRODUCED USING SEVERAL METHODS INCLUDING (SEEDED) EMULSION, (SEEDED) DISPERSION, AND SUSPENSION POLYMERIZATIONS. HOWEVER, SEEDED DISPERSION POLYMERIZATION (SDP) IS FAVORABLE, IN WHICH THEIR SYNTHESIS ARE ACCOMPLISHED IS TWO STEPS. IN THE FIRST STAGE, SEED IS PRODUCED, WHICH UPON ADDITION OF THE SECOND MONOMER, IS TRANSFORMED TO COMPOSITE PARTICLES. IN THIS ARTICLE, SDP IS PERFORMED USING TWO TYPES OF SEED PARTICLES, AND THE EFFECT OF INITIATOR CONCENTRATION ON THE FINAL MORPHOLOGY IS INVESTIGATED.

DISPERSION of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in polymeric matrix is a key factor on forming CNTs/polymer composits. In this work the raw multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) at first were treated with a mixed solution of concentrated sulphuric acid and concentrated nitric acid (named as O-MWNTs); then the O-MWNTs were dispersed with ultrasonic in phosphoric acid and the products were denoted as U-MWNTs. Poly(pphenylene- 2,6-benzoxazole) (PBO) had been synthesized in the presence of O-MWNTs or U-MWNTs in poly(phosphoric acid) using typical PBO POLYMERIZATION conditions. Raman spectra, scanning electronic microscope and atomic force microscopy techniques were used to analyze the morphology of MWNTs/PBO composites. Topographies showed the better DISPERSION of U-MWNTs in the composites.

The cationic polyelectrolyte of P (CMTC-DMC-AM) was synthesized by DISPERSION POLYMERIZATION in aqueous solution of ammonium chloride, using acrylamide (AM) and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate methyl chloride (DMC) as main raw materials, N -carboxymethylthioureidochitosan (CMTC) as both one of reactants and the stabilizer, 2, 2' -azobis (2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (V-50) as the initiator. The effects of the major reaction variables, such as the mass proportion of CMTC and the monomers, the mass ratio between monomers and the total amount of the reactants were investigated. In addition, the product was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy.The results showed that CMTC had participated in the POLYMERIZATION process with DMC and AM by the function of initiator under certain conditions. The product agglomerated when the mass proportion of CMTC, AM and DMC was less than 0.67: 6.0: 6.0, while particles would be flocculated due to the flocculation action of CMTC when the proportion was up to 0.67: 4.0: 4.0. The molecular weight increased with the increase of DMC, but the product agglomerated when the proportion of AM to DMC was less than 3: 8. The total concentration of CMTC, AM and DMC also influenced the POLYMERIZATION enormously. At high concentrations, the DISPERSION was disturbed by agglomeration due to coalescence or cross-linking of the polymer chains. At lower concentration, the molecular weight greatly decreased, due to insufficient adsorption of monomers on the particles. The optimum reaction conditions for obtaining a stable aqueous DISPERSION were concentrations of 0.67 g, 5.5 g and 5.5 g per 100 mL de-ionized water for CMTC, AM and DMC, respectively, under the conditions of 32 g for ammonium chloride and 0.0105 g for initiator and reaction temperature of 60°C for 5 h.

فرضیه: پلیمرشدن پراکنشی روش منحصر به فردی برای تولید ذرات پلیمری یکنواخت در محدوده میکرومتر است. پلیمر تهیه شده با این روش می تواند در کاربردهای گسترده استفاده شود. فهم چگونگی اثر پارامترهای فرایندی بر اندازه ذرات و توزیع آن در پلیمرشدن پراکنشی اهمیت بسزایی دارد. هدف اصلی این مقاله، بررسی اثر پارامترهای فرایندی بر اندازه ذرات و توزیع آن در میکروکره های پلی استیرن سنتزشده به روش پلیمرشدن پراکنشی است. روش ها: پلیمرشدن پراکنشی در دمای C° 65، به مدت h 24 درون لوله آزمایش انجام شد. اثر نوع حلال، مقدار پایدارکننده و کمک پایدارکننده بر اندازه ذرات میکروکره های پلی استیرن و توزیع اندازه آن ها با میکروسکوپی الکترونی پویشی (SEM) و نرم افزار Image J بررسی شد. همچنین، اثر مخلوط حلال و غلظت کمک پایدارکننده بر وزن های مولکولی و توزیع آن (PDI) در نمونه ها با سوانگاری ژل تراوشی (GPC) ارزیابی شد. یافته ها: نتایج شکل شناسی نمونه ها نشان داد، افزایش طول آلیفاتیک حلال های قطبی اثر دوگانه ای بر اندازه ذرات و توزیع آن دارد. با افزایش طول آلیفاتیک حلال ابتدا اندازه ذرات بزرگ تر و توزیع آن پهن تر می شود، سپس افزایش بیشتر طول آلیفاتیک موجب ایجاد ذرات تک توزیعی با اندازه ذرات به مراتب کوچک تر می شود. افزودن آب به حلال اتانول نسبت به حلال اتانول خالص موجب کاهش اندازه ذرات، افزایش وزن های مولکولی و شاخص توزیع آن ها شد. با افزایش غلظت پایدارکننده اندازه ذرات و توزیع آن کاهش یافت. افزون براین، افزودن کمک پایدارکننده به سامانه اثر چندانی بر اندازه ذرات و توزیع آن نداشت. با وجود این، افزودن آن موجب افزایش وزن مولکولی و شاخص توزیع میکروکره های پلی استیرن شد.
